Romeo and Juliet is a well-known tragedy written by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is about two star-crossed lovers who can not be in love because of their family’s hatred towards each other. Throughout the play, there were problems that the characters caused that lead up to Romeo and Juliet’s death. The main one to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death is Tybalt and this is why.

Tybalt is the one to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death because of him being hot-headed, he got Romeo banished. In Act 3, scene 1, lines 61-62, it says, “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries That thou hast done me; therefore turn and draw.” This shows that Tybalt is trying to get Romeo to fight him, but Romeo doesn’t want to fight him. Also in Act 3, scene 1, lines 72-72, it says, Good King of Cats, nothing but one of your nine lives. That I mean to make bold withal, and, as you shall use me,... Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out. Mercutio is saying that he was going to fight Tybalt because Romeo didn’t want to fight Tybalt. In Act 1, scene 3, it says “Tut! you saw her fair, none else being by, Herself poised with herself, in either eye; But in that crystal scales…And she shall scant show well that now shows best.” This shows that Benvolio is trying to convince Romeo to go to the Capulet’s party. Benvolio was talking about going to the Capulet’s party because he wanted Romeo to get over Rosaline and to not mourn over her.
