I came to the U.S for high school study at the age of fourteen to explore the world outside of my hometown. I faced obstacles of communicating with foreign students and understanding the class materials in English, but instead of giving in, I was urged and motivated to work even harder and become a better and stronger person. I remember clearly my experience in the host family. My host mom lost her vision due to an eye disease. For the three years, I learned to take care of both myself and the family, which became an important experience in my life. In addition, at UC Davis, I’m dedicated to students’ work. By working as a peer advisor and orientation leader, I improved my public speaking and leadership skills by challenging myself to give speeches to hundreds of students. I believe those experiences will benefit me a lot in the long run. Besides, I am always eager to improve myself and I’m not afraid of confronting challenges, because I know that my family will always be there to support me, and I want to achieve a higher level of education to have a more comprehensive understanding of statistics so that I may accomplish something my parents never have a chance to
