While some teenagers abide by the laws and regulations of the state concerning the consumption of alcohol, others do not. Among recent years, alcohol consumption of young adults has increased drastically. Among individuals in the United States that drink alcohol, 11% are between the ages 13 to 20. Teens do not realize the risks and effects of alcohol consumption. Drinking at a younger age means that one is at a greater risk of encountering major health problems. Alcohol, especially when consumed by younger individuals, is harmful to one’s body, including possible liver damage, and even brain damage. Alcohol abuse by minors is fluenced by many factors during their lives. It is hard for a minor to escape the everyday pressure of alcohol. Alcohol is represented in many forms in our society and the main source minors seem to gain pressure from is social media. In our society today it is very likely for a minor to be on social media almost everyday which means that they are seeing all of the different advertisements about alcohol. These advertisements make minors curious about alcohol and pressure them to abuse it at a young age. Underage drinking has become more and more common as the years pass. Not just underage drinking but underage binge drinking. Many people just see this as something that is a part of everyday life. They think because their parents or mentors drank while underage, it’s ok for them to do it as well. They think it’s just part of the fun of being a teenager and for some, even pre-teen years. But nobody actually thinks of the effects it can have on the bodies of underage and of age drinkers. The main effect that can come from drinking at such an early age is obviously alcohol addiction, everyone knows that. It starts off as just friends drinking every weekend, then it turns into 4 nights a week, then 5, and so on until you find yourself drinking every day. Not only is becoming an alcoholic a huge risk of underage drinking but the effects that it can have on your health and family life and brutal as well. Our bodies are not fully developed until the age of 21. The abuse of alcohol before that age can slow down or stop that development. Not to mention that our livers are not meant to handle any alcohol until we are of age. Alcohol is not good for the liver regardless but by the time you are 21 it can process it pretty well. Alcohol has also been the cause of death for many. When the substance is abused, it causes the user to make choices one would not normally make or act in different ways. The number one killer is drunk driving. People feel that they are still able to drive after
