Unit 11 Systems analysis & Design 2/11/2014
The principles of systems analysis
Iain’s & Co
Iain’s & Co are a large building company that currently employ a team of IT technicians to help them manage their IT infrastructure and their IT users. They recently have taken over a similar small company that employs technical staff in the same way. Iain’s & Co feel that they need a centralised IT support system that will monitor, track and report problems that have been identified by their IT users across both sites. Iain’s & Co have hired me as their Systems Analyst to provide them better solutions to manage their IT Supports system.

What is systems analysis and how are systems analysed?
Systems analysis is when businesses hire individuals to analyse …show more content…

For example, a business has to employ new staff to manage their new routines. By increasing the number of staff, the system may not be able to handle the amount of incoming data. Therefore having a new system may allow for faster and efficient working.

Another reason why businesses change their systems is that competitors are using better-advanced systems which help them reduce their costs. This places a business at an advantage over a business that uses an old system.

Iain’s & Co key drivers and reasons
Iain & Co believe that their company needs a centralised IT based support system. This means that the company wants to bring all of their systems together, so they can easily have access to both; without the need of constantly changing systems to monitor and report faults they encounter. This directly links with the key driver that a business changes their systems as they have expanded.

Secondly, Iain’s & Co would like to change their system as it has become unsuitable for its purpose to manage two different sites. This links to the key driver that businesses change their systems as they are becoming out of date and there are changes to the way of work.

The Stages of a development …show more content…

The model stages start from the top and end at the bottom.
Stage one: Requirements
This is the stage where I will ask Iain’s & Co what they are looking for in their new system. This stage is also where I will ask the companies system users what improvements could be made. I will also ask them what are the pros and cons about the current system. Stage two: Design
The design stage is where I will identify the details of how the system will be developed. The main focus will be on what information will be processed in the system and how this will be constructed. The design stage is also where I will create a plan of what the system will look like.
Stage three: Implementation or coding
This stage is where I will start to build the system for use and set up. During this stage, I will develop each unit and test the functionality of the system units. This is known as unit testing.

Stage four: Testing and Debugging
Once all the units have been developed at the implementation stage, they are then put together into a system. This system will then be entirely tested for faults or failures. This is also known as the testing and debugging stage.

Stage five:
