A person buys a brand new computer today and it seems that within three months their PC is out of date. As a result, several organizations have created a system of ethics and policies that they have implemented to ensure that professionals and organizations act in a moral way about the way they do business, and while these standards differ in many ways the three things that are consistently found in each one of them is personal honesty, confidentiality of information, and the commitment to cause

Every person has a sense of conscience to know the differences between what is right and wrong, which also goes for major corporate companies as well, perhaps even more. Companies has a duty to their employees, stakeholders, even society to maintain their integrity to perform in ways that are beneficial with society in mind. For many people look up to these companies for inspiration, depending on them for quality, performance, just overall high expectation to better the world for tomorrow. Take Apple Inc for instance, Apple is a well-known company that is of a high standard to some people however they lack awareness to instill policies to resolve issues that may be unknown to the public. For instance, they fail to take responsibility for their actions as it pertains to shareholder wanting committees to address environmental issues, human and labor rights, and health and safety issues.
First of all, I think the final collapse of Enron on December 2, 2001, under Lay and Skilling was because of their leadership style and corporate administration issue that prompt to the corporate culture of the organization. The failure of the company was not only caused by one person’s doing but whole top management from the beginning. As the Chinese saying goes, “paper cannot hold a fire.” Hence, the mistakes they made accumulated day by day and finally end up with huge debts and bankruptcy. The things which had Lay and Skilling did is difficult to show both of them were violating laws.
After reading the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code of ethics, the core values are satisfactory, but I believe there is room for improvement. The code of ethics is broad and all encompassing. This is good for Mechanical Engineers because they can venture into many fields, but leaves many of the codes up for interpretation. For example, an engineer working in the renewable energy industry might interpret “environmental impact” in rule number eight differently than someone working in a refinery. The engineer working in the refinery is less inclined to consider these effects because implementing technology such as scrubbers can eat into the bottom line and therefore risk his job security.

Morals are qualities and standards an individual uses to control his exercises and choices making.
Engineers are provided with codes of ethics from which they should base their decisions on. These fundamental rules ensure that engineers make decisions that will be the most helpful and productive to everyone involved. Overall, every engineer must follow the Code of Ethics released by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). In addition, disciplines of engineering typically have their own Code of Ethics. This specific set of boundaries that apply to me would be set forth by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

It is very important for an organization to have a code of ethics because is not only a guidance to how a duty is performed within an organization, but it also specifies the rules and regulations of said organization. Besides, the organization mission and core values, as well as expectation of current and prospective employees. According to the American Medical Association (AMA), their vision is “working to enhance the delivery of care and enable physicians and health teams to partner with patients to achieve better health” (https://www.ama-assn.org/about/our-vision). Some values that I would include in a code of ethics in an organization could be, providing compassionate care, dignity, privacy, exercising patience and kindness, respecting the patient rights. Yes, I believe that these rules are to be different, depending on the type of organization, entity of work, besides, workload and labor.

The Boeing Company Ethical Business Conduct for All Boeing Employees. The Boeing Code of Conduct outlines expected behaviors for all
This can inculcate an ethical attitude in Foxconn’s employees and help employees make “right” decisions when they are in an ethical dilemma. Having an ethics code addresses the root cause of the problem, however research has shown that an ethics code is only effective when it is used as part of a comprehensive corporate ethics program (Mhonderwa, 2012). This can be costly to implement for Foxconn as it has more than one million employees. Lastly, the customers of Foxconn should enforce a compliance-based ethics program on Foxconn. The message must be made clear to Foxconn that if it engages in unethical behaviour, the customers will find alternative manufacturers.
