In the following reflection paper we will focus on the different aspects of human rights and get a better understanding from a universal understanding. Charles Beitz and Joe Hoover in these article have different perspectives in my opinion yet I believe together they are intertwined and help better understand the issues and system of human rights. The different perspectives play hand in hand to fully understand the complexity of human rights.
The reason I came to this conclusion was due to the fact Charles Beitz describes human rights especially in the universal declaration of human rights as a “common concern” and Joe Hoover reads in this same UDHR document an expression of “plurality and contestation” they both stress on the importance of the matter to society and universally. Nonpartisan is a universal understanding of human rights to any individual regardless of religion or culture view, basically what’s wrong is wrong and what is right is right universal. However, partisan is when there is a conflict with human rights due to the difference tradition or religion because the religion may go against the human rights in a universal view. Which is where problem occurs when individuals and other beliefs cause a reaction or outcome that may be against certain human rights, for example female genital mutilation. International human right is when there’s a universal agreement that actions need to be done in certain inhumane situations. We should be living in a society where it protects one another however when people have different view points and beliefs and impose it on others this also causes a political dispute and makes it harder for one to protect these rights. The natural laws are the universal shared understanding but when different religion, culture, beliefs, politics and economics are involved one’s judgment changes and opinions alter causing
