Reflection Task: Reflecting on Learning

I did my Work Experience Placement at Urban Cow Studios. Urban cow Studios is an Art Gallery and shop where you can buy art by strictly South Australia artists. During my week at Urban Cow I learn how to do procedures that would be done by the regular staff. I learnt how to clean jewellery properly without damaging it, how to use a till and work with customers and I learnt a lot about how artist work and how they sell and create their artworks.

I chose to go to Urban Cow Studios for my Work Experience Placement because I believe it is a great establishment dedicated to helping customers and South Australian artists. Every morning, to make sure I wasn’t late for work, I would set my alarm and make sure

Gladly this was one of the best and most interesting things I was taught by the staff at Urban Cow. One thing I did not expect however was the difficulty that the employees faced when they had to tell an artist that their artwork was not properly suited for the customers and or the image of Urban Cow Studios.

To prepare for my Work Experience week and the professional attributes I would need every day I did a few things like buying professional attire, I worked to extending my art retail vocabulary and I did some research on the history of the Work Place.

Some skills and attributes that I believe I already had that were helpful in more Work Place were my friendly nature and passion for art and design. These attributes helped me connect with the employees and help understand how things worked in the work place. They also helped me gain a better understanding of how the establishment is run. Some attributes that I developed during my time at Urban Cow Studios were confidence in using the till and working with money and my organisational skills as I needed to be at work at a certain time and needed to be certain I had what I needed to complete the tasks given in that day. I believe this would be a great career for me as I now have had experience in this area of work and have a deep understanding in how a work place such as this is run and how the employees are expected to

Having good communication skills is incredibly important for all areas of life so working on this capability is helpful for everyday life and future goals. To future develop this capability I can continue to talk to my peers and teachers as they also need to have good communication skills so working on with people at school could be beneficial for more than just one person.

This capability helped me achieve my study goals because I could talk to my teachers about tasks and aspects that I needed to work on to improve my grades, helped me in my personal life as it made it easier to ask my family for help and made it easier to create good relationships with people. This capability will help me in my future career by enabling me to create good relationships with co-workers and future employers to create a better work environment. I believe that good communication skills will help me in the future but also in everyday
