APA stands for the American Psychology Association. It is a form of writing used for writing research papers, mainly in social science (iup.edu). The American Psychology Association style of writing is used by researchers in psychology and other social science disciplines such as education, social work, and sociology (Bethel University, 2015). One thing that is important with the APA style of writing is the use of in-text citation.

A citation is used in the body of the paper to alert readers to the inclusion of borrowed material (Bethel University, 2015). In-text citations can be used throughout the whole paper. In-text citations are used to indicate quotations, paraphrases, borrowed ideas (Bethel University, 2015). It will also help the reader identify the source material of the paper (Bethel University, 2015). When using an in-text citation there are several things to keep in mind. First you need to make sure the author’s name and verb is included. Second, is to include is the date of publication (Bethel University, 2015). The in-text citation is the place to clearly distinguish borrowed material and avoid distracting readers (Bethel University, 2015).
