Using Shon Reflection In Action And Action

In this reflection of my observation I am going to use the Shon reflection framework. This framework is reflection in action and then reflection on action. I have decided to use this reflection framework as I feel to make real sense of the observation I need to gain a deeper understanding to make progression. As my last observation showed that I had made a vital mistake when deciding when to move on, this reflection will allow me the experience to be confident in this process. Barentsen and Malthouse (2009) define Schon’s approach to reflection as encouraging a person to think on their feet. I feel that this well make me progress in my practice and feel confident in what I am doing.
This observation took place a week after my last observation. Therefore, feedback was still fresh in my head. I was aware of my action plan and what I needed to do to progress. As this observation was so close to my last one, I decided to take a risk with a new approach to teaching, like what was suggested in my last feedback.
Throughout planning I became unsure that this approach was not going to work, and I was unable to get my head around how it would work. As I was unable to figure out how the lesson was going to plan out I became apprehensive of what was going to happen. …show more content…

I feel that I as I was worried about one group sitting around with nothing to do, I was conscious of the time and the feedback that went on after each activity. As this was the case, my plenaries were not as strong as I would like them to be as when the students could not answer I tried to move on. As questioning and answering went on, I was thinking on my feet.
