Vaccinations aren’t just for you, but for the health of the community as well. There is a dramatically smaller chance for one to pass a disease on to a friend, a loved one, or a coworker if one is vaccinated. It can save lives and prevent disease such as measles or mumps. Wouldn’t you rather be vaccinated than to have to treat the disease itself? Preventing the disease is much safer. If one decides to not get vaccinated, treatment for a disease can be much more expensive than a simple vaccination that can be covered by an insurance.

Not being vaccinated puts the life of those who are too young or have religious beliefs that are against vaccines, in much more danger. An unvaccinated child can face life-long differences that could potentially put them at risk. Women who are pregnant and not vaccinated can also be a major risk for complication during their pregnancy. Before a woman becomes pregnant, they have to make sure that they are up to date on all their vaccines because this will help not only protect the mother but the child as well. They have to make sure they have the vaccines they need in order to not have the chance of being hospitalized or have serious problems while pregnant. Even if you are much older there is always the need of vaccines for an elderly to prevent diseases such as the flu, shingles, diphtheria, whooping cough, and pneumonia. No vaccine is 100% effective but the Center Of Disease Control states that a “single dose of measles vaccine protects about 95% of children, but after two doses almost 100% are immune.” This proves that not only is it safer to be vaccinated, but vaccinations are highly effective, and decrease the chance of contracting preventable diseases. We also have to remember that not everyone’s immune system is the same, so some might not have the right respond and in that case will not be 100% protected after getting vaccinated.
