On October 20, 2015, I attended a speech at my workplace. The speech was on how to give medication to patients. I work at Victory House Bethesda, and it involved on how to administer the right dose at the right time to the patients. Mrs. Irene, who was my speaker, gave a description of her and started on the main issue of the speech. Administering medication correctly is an important aspect that helps patient to be strong in their daily life. Mrs. Irene used eye contact to communicate with us while giving her speech. There were 30 employees who administer medication in the meeting. She also talked about how to ensure that resident has taken their medication because it is important to know their health. Through her speech, she constantly talked about the patient has the right to refuse treatment and service. Mrs. Irene tone was precise and fairly formal. She made everyone, especially I get to know the basic rule of administering medication. Furthermore, she emphasized that a nurse can not give a whole medication to a patient without a doctor's Order. She also added that a delegating nurse is the only person who can instruct a delegate med-tech to administer medication to a patient. She moved from one place to another and later asked us to follow her while she showed us the chart where we store patient medication and how it is should be arranged accordingly without any mistake. Mrs. Irene showed us how affluent these patients are, but due to some sicknesses they ended up being in the assisted living, so it is important we treat them with love. Furthermore, Mrs. Irene took us to these patients played games and showed us how they start their activities so they can feel that they are at home.
