Do Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence?
Violent video games cause school shootings? Many believe that violent video games are the reason why our youth are so violent and desensitized. Violent video games do not cause violent tendencies in kids because, there is no factual statistical evidence, video game help kids with releasing stress and anger from long or hard days, and kids know the difference between real life and a video game.
Violent video games are the blame for violence in youth. They have been blamed for school shootings, increasingly amounts of bullying, and violence towards women. Violent video games are also credited for desensitizing players, receiving rewards for violence, and teaching children that violence is always the answer to solve …show more content…

The debate about violent video games has been going on since the late 1970s. In 1999, the argument resurfaced again after the Columbine High School massacre. People say that the two shooters were avid players of a violent video game known as Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. Many times politicians have tried to stop the sale of violent video games but they all have failed. There is no factual evidence or any proven psychological test stating that violent video games are the cause of violence in America. In 2015, the American Psychological Association did a test that video games are linked to increased aggression but did not have any sufficient evidence between games and increased violence.
Violent video games do not cause our youth to be more aggressive. Those that have done studies on violent video games have failed. Researchers do not add in other variables to the equation such as: drug abuse in families, abuse, and or any
