Video games have been around since the 1950s. These video games can allow people to do whatever they want with no consequences. With this video games became more and more violent from “Death Race” in 1967 to GTA V in 2013. These games has rules and give the player the ability from murder, torchering, to stealing. Due to the violence people think it leads public shooters to violence, like the newtown shooting. Although there are some connections between violent video games and violence. Violent video games don't cause violence what causes violence is the way mentally ill people can get ahold of weapons and in the case of video games what mentally ill people are allowed to play. The author goes into a deep historical context about video games going all the way back to the first game. He talks about a game called “Death Race”. The author talks about the mental illness of those who have participated in shootings that have a relations to violent video game. The research the author finds that most if not all shooters have some time of mental illness. He goes into the research of the correlations between violent video games and violence and desensitization. The research shows that there is no evidence that leans towards one side of the argument or the other. The second document talks about the history of video games which interest the read then it talks about who plays the “proof” that the argument that video games cause violence. The author gives facts about video games like the actual violent video games, who plays them, why the video games are popular, what the government is try to do about it, and the research on the topic. The author look at research to see if the research shows evidently that violent video games cause desensitization and violence in the players. The research found didn't lean towards one argument or the other with there being no obvious correct research the author talks about why that may be and how it shows that you can’t say video games do cause desensitization and violence in players.
