Organizational Challenges
Artists and companies in the music industry know that interacting with fans is one of the most important actions they can take. The fans are the people keeping them going and that pay their bills. The least an artist can do is interact with their fans. In recent years social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have given artists a platform to interact with fans. Social media allows artists to post updates such as when they are recording and tour information (McDonald, 2016). It also allows artists to join into conversations. This technology has been around for a decent amount of time now and there has been little change in the way we interact. How do we make music more interactive?

Financial Standings
BMLG is a privately owned company, which means that their financial records are not open to the public. The most that could be found of their revenue or value is an estimate on Forbes Magazine. Zach Greenburg (2013) writes, “Big Machine is big business. It’s a private company, which means that its financials aren’t open to the public. But FORBES estimates that the label pulls in revenues in the high eight-figures, a sum Borchetta didn’t deny. With margins in excess of 20%–far higher in certain years, he says–the company’s value could easily be nine figures. $200 million, anybody?” (p.1).
Organizational Strengths
There are a number of strengths that BMLG possess and play a role in their competitive advantage. One strength BMLG has is the strength of a good partnership; BLMG’s partnership with Universal music group for their distribution is one reason why they are the number 1 independent label in the world. Most independent labels don’t have the luxury of having a big machine behind them like Universal to distribute their albums, but even if they did they wouldn’t have the marketing tools or even a big time artist to sell a large amount of albums. This leads into BLMG’s second strength and advantage and that is picking great country artists and selling a large amount of albums.
