In Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, there is a very important subplot that relates to the main plot and it is about a girl named Phoebe and her whole, entire story. One reason and probably the most obvious is that in Phoebe’s story, her mother, Mrs. Winterbottom, goes away, and in Sal’s life, her own mother runs away. There are a few differences like Sal’s mom had passed away from her being in a bus crash in Idaho. So Sal indefinitely knew that her mother was not coming home. While, on the other hand. Phoebe’s mom came back, she she had changed and brought someone with her. This made Sal jealous in a non-foolish way, but it would still haunt her. Birkway’s sister was a suspect. This is like Sal’s story because she talks about how she threw temper tantrums at her dad. Mrs. Cadaver also plays a big part in Sal’s story because she got a chance to speak to Sal’s mother before they came to a crashing stop.Sal’s mother had confronted to Mrs. Cadaver about what she did, which she then tells Sal when she was about to begin her own life’s story. Apparently, Sal’s mother had died in the bus accident with Mrs. Cadaver, but there was only one survivor, whom is Mrs. Cadaver. So, Sal’s and Phoebe’s story really tie in with each other. Even though Phoebe got her mother back and Sal didn’t, Phoebe doesn’t like the new Mrs. Winterbottom, with as much as that she could despise her. I can infer that Sal might have done the same thing if her mother was to return because she is really close to Phoebe. In conclusion, an important subplot in the book Walk Two Moon By Sharon Creech Phoebe’s life story because it really connects to Sal’s story by having major events that are alike in the other story.
