Walter Elias Disney is an American filmmaker and entrepreneur, well known for his work of producing cartoons and films and creating amazing theme parks. Disney began with generating cartoon characters, then creating cartoon shows and movies with real people instead of cartoons. The Walt Disney Company was founded by Walt Disney in the 1920s, and has flourished from a small animation studio into a leading, major company. Four main branches of his company include Disney Media Networks, Disney Parks and Resorts, Walt Disney Studios, and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. With all of Walt Disney’s accomplishments, he has received many awards, showing that he has influenced the world through his work. At only seventeen, Walt Disney dropped out of high school and served in World War I as an ambulance driver, returning to Kansas City as an illustrator in 1919 (“Walt Disney”). This displays how Disney is valient and influential, going into war at such a young age and influencing the way the world is today. He was able to take in some basic art information through courses at museum classes, and used the things he learned to create animals and characters for later cartoons (“Walt Disney”). Walt Disney joined the Kansas City Film Ad Company in 1920, creating cartoon advertisements for movie theaters and developing the first Disney cartoons that would become a success in the near future, influencing children to watch his shows and cartoons (Smith). Disney moved to Los Angeles, California in 1923 to become a director and film producer, but not being able to find a job allowed Disney to return to making cartoons where he created his first studio in the back of a real estate office, but had trouble with money (Smith).
