These guns had calibers ranging from .69 to .75 inches. Muskets usually fired anywhere from 80-100 yards but were inaccurate weapons but did the job. Muskets could be fitted with bayonets, a short dual sided blade meant for close combat.

The author of Broken Spears tries to emphasize the fact that the it was not only the Spanish who played a role in the collapse of the Aztecs. One of the most prime reasons the Spanish were victorious was because they were worshiped and viewed as gods due to their presentation. With this to their advantage, the Spanish took leverage over the Aztecs. The Aztecs welcomed the Spanish with offerings and celebration, this gave the Spanish the idea that they had control over them and began to gather this power into ideas to take over their people. The Aztecs had a tremendous cultural difference from the Spanish when it came to their ritual ceremonies, they included a human sacrifice in their ritual and this repulsed the Spanish.

Kate Foley Ms. Zisel Global 9H April 2nd, 2017 The Middle Ages was a time of destruction and redemption for the people of the Roman Empire between A.D. 500-1400. The best description of this time period can be represented by four terms, the Golden Age, the Dark Age, the Age of Faith and the Age of Feudalism. Each time caused for a significant change in society that had a tremendous impact. A Champion Arms for Battle, from Book 19 of the Iliad by Homer, is flooded with figurative language and diction, which depict both the horrors and glories of war. The poem tells the tale of the mythical Greek hero, Achilles, as he and his fellow soldiers prepare to enter one of the last battles of the Trojan War. Homer communicates the enormous size of the Greek army with a simile comparing the men to a swirling snowstorm from Zeus above. Threatening diction is presented in this first sentence through the words “thick-and fast,” “frozen sharp,” and “blasts.” The word choice presents the theme of war.
As a senior at Patrick Henry High School (PHHS), I am greatly concerned with the inadequate fulfillment of public school children’s dietary needs and the poor quality of school lunches. The lack of the necessary components from the meals provided by the district shows the scarcity of care towards students. By purchasing local, fresh produce from San Diegan farms, the nutritional value of meals would be greatly enriched; furthermore, it would lead to a reduction of costs and an effort to prevent childhood obesity. Poor eating habits instigate the enervated physiques and well-beings of students. In order to deter from these detrimental results, support from the district is crucial.
The Sword Hilt and Christianity in Beowulf Christianity was a major cultural influence during the time in which Beowulf was written. Although the characters within the text are not Christians, the writer is. A religious writer will certainly insert some elements of their beliefs into some texts they write. The writer may make these beliefs evident through characters or certain objects within their texts. In the context of Beowulf, the hilt of the sword is the object chosen.
Another reason why the middle ages were referred to as dark is because of the decline in production of culture. “The passage illustrates medieval education, which was provided primarily at monasteries or church schools and was not available to most people” (Doc E). This was the adapters note from a passage about a monk who went to Chartres to study Hippocrates and it says how education was not provided for most people, which explains why there was a decline in culture because only very little could get educated. “I learned the ordinary symptoms of diseases and picked up surface knowledge of ailments. This was not enough to satisfy my desires” (Doc E).
The things they carried is a novel by Tim O’Brien. About the Vietnam war. About the lives of people going there. It’s a collection of war stories. Some of them true, some of the untrue and that’s the main topic that’ll be discussed in this paper.
The medieval times lasted from the 6th century to the 16th century. The medieval era wasn 't a pleasant time for people to be alive as it was a time were punishments and trials were really harsh and dangerous. During this time, it was easy for people to commit a crime. Crimes that are now seen as something insignificant were perceived as a horrible offence such as sleeping on the streets and talking behind peoples back. The society in the medieval times were organized by the feudal System.
Executions in Medieval Ages consisted of varying types of appalling methods of putting down a criminal, ended the lives of many legends, and had a peculiar system of determining whether one was guilty or not. The renowned guillotine and public hangings weren’t the only techniques used for capital punishment, there were tons of creative, yet horrifying ideas for execution. Some executions, such as the beheading, were reserved for nobles, kings, and knights since they were a honorable and quick death. There were even executions specialized for purging witches by burning them on a stake. Public executions like impalement and crucifixion were used to scare the public, portraying the consequences of breaking the law.
