A sociopath is someone who is mentally unstable, a nutcase is someone whose head isn’t screw on right, an outcast is someone that society just doesn’t want; Chris McCandless was none of those things. Although, an outsider and maybe even a little quirky, he was normal. McCandless was just his own person. McCandless had a bit of a twist to himself, but he was the same as the everyday person. One of these similarities include the basic human need for approval. Before he left on his adventure, he boasted to his father about his grades, even the fact that he could easily get into, he literally shared the world with each other. Once can argue that no one would do what he did. McCandless was extremely ill-prepared, lacked of street smarts, and showed straight out ignorance to the naturalistic world around him. All of those claims would be nothing other than the truth. Most of what he did would be considered completely out of the norm. Who only brings a bag of rice, burns all currency and identification, illegally rafts through a dangerous river, and treats the whole “survival of the fittest” as a game? At this point, only one person is known to be that insane: Chris McCandless. His life could’ve been ended at any time due to him mot thinking his situation through. Still, people may do crazy things, but they are still only human. Chris wasn’t insane, just an adventurer. Technically, anyone can tell what Chris did pushed the boundaries of sanity, but doesn’t everyone at some point. Chris was given a lift where everything was handed to him on a silver platter. Once he started helping the less fortunate, he realized there was so much more than nice cars, expensive trips, and even money. What he wanted was to be able to be
