A genetic material that has been reformed in a way that does not happen normally by mating or natural combination is called a genetically modified organism. GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) have their good ends and they have their bad ends when it comes to the different foods and organic crops that have been tampered with. It also has positive and negative affects on governmental regulations, cultures, religions, and society itself. For many years’ plants and animal’s traditional breeding have been altered and still is being altered today by GMO’s. The artificial selection for the desired trait has made a wide variety of different organisms ranging from organic crops to hairless dogs. Different artificial selections that display specific traits are chosen to breed after generations, which was limited to only naturally existing variations (Phillips 2008). In the past 10 years the field of genetic engineering has made it easy for precise control over the changes introduced into an organism (Phillips 2008). We can now incorporate new genes from one species into a totally nonrelated species through genetic engineering. GMO’s are …show more content…

Allergies were a big issue, because a lot of people are allergic to a lot of different things. The fact that not enough testing is being done is allowing the GMO’s to create new allergies and cause already existing allergies to flare up in the human body. The genetic modification mixes and adds proteins that were not a part of the original plant which is what causes the allergic reactions. The modified genes have different antibiotic features added that makes them resistant to certain diseases and viruses. The features in the antibiotics that remain in the human body make the antibiotic medications less
