In 2008, the businesses $27.9 million in lobbying bills have been passed simplest via those of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Exxon Mobil.
Out of all of the political relationships between individuals which exist in the American political system, one of the most critical is that which exists between the lobbyist and legislator. To the average citizen, the foundation of America’s political process centers on the understanding, examination, and transfer of influence between politicians and representatives of public or private special interest groups. (Patterson, 2009) What is unseen by the average citizen is the multibillion dollar political industry developed by lobbyists for the benefit and information exchange on their special interests at the federal, state, county, municipal, and even local levels of government. The allure of lobbying at the federal level is because federal
a) According to the hyperpluralist theory, interest groups maintain a vast amount of power and they are detrimental towards democracy. This is because there are too many groups fighting for their own individual interests, which means that only small groups of people are able to reap the economic and societal benefits. A wide variety and countless amounts of interest groups can cause demosclerosis in the government. An example of this would be the mohair subsidy that the Mohair Council of American continues to pursue.
In the passage from “Bag Ban Bad for Freedom and Environment”, the author, Adam B. Summers, makes an interesting case on why plastic bags should not be banned. Throughout the passage, Summers uses many examples and comparisons to describe how our world is not necessarily being harmed from plastic bags and that there are other uses for paper bags that would not be fulfilled if the bags were to be banned. He uses evidence, reasoning, and persuasive language and word choice to build his argument and persuade his audience that plastic bags should not be banned. In order to make his argument valid, Summers uses evidence and comparisons to support his claims.
The Democratic State serves the interest of corporation because, the Democratic state will make policies for the needs of cooperation’s. In order for them to completely function well, they count on each other’s to properly function well. Operation is considered a wealthy part of our country, which contributes into the role of our democracy, and which it profits them. Corporation can lobby for laws with their power and money, while people don’t have nearly as much potential. If there is no cooperation we as people won’t have an economy and the way of living which will than cause the corruption of living.
Direct democracy is a system that allows citizens to make laws themselves rather than outsourcing the job to elected representatives. The advantages of having a direct democracy would allow the inhabitants to have the capability of direct authority and cast ballots that will influence how things are operated. Another advantage having this type of democracy would entail more transparency within government. Certain issues that would normally be considered classified, having a direct democracy all information related to government would be available for everyone to see. Although this may appear beneficial to citizens, a direct democracy can also cause tension within a government.
The salem witch trials and LGBT marriage rights are situations that have drastically inclined because they were negatively impacted by authority figures irrational fears or personal integrity. both of these situations are good examples to demonstrate how authority figures irrational fears or personal integrity can cause hysteria to grow among populations. In each case, a primary cause of the hysteria was because of the misuse of power that authority figures have. The use of plastic bags has been debated for years. Some people prefer to use them, and others would rather use substitutes, and most have their personal reasons why they lean one way or the other in the argument. In this article, the author addresses why he believes plastic bags should not be banned. The author, Adam B. Summers, uses various literary tools and appeals throughout his article, "Bag Ban Bad for Freedom and Environment," to support his argument that banning plastic bags would do more harm than good. Logical appeal is the most frequently used literary device in the passage.
We chose an oligarchy for our type of government, for our economic system we chose a mixed economy. We chose an oligarchy due to the fact that the island we created was small with a very low population. This would work best for the island due to the fact that the population is small and would be easy to control and rule over the population. Also this would make the system much easier since there will not be little to non government building and meetings would be much more easier to setup. The reason we have chosen a mixed economy for our economic system was due to the fact that there is an oil rig located near the island and thus it would be efficient to import and export oil.
Due to the negative effects caused from plastic it will always play a role in our environment. One hundred different chemicals have been created after the 1950s to the current day. Something people do not realize is that throwing a plastic wrapper on the ground will end up in a birds stomach, burning plastic in a fire will end up in the air we breathe, and recycling plastic will end up back in our homes. The author states, “I don’t even shop anymore. Anything I need will just float
To begin, one way plastic bags should be banned is because they cause too much litter. For example, the International Coastal Cleanup in California has collected 7,825,319 plastic bags during the past twenty-five years (1). This shows
The reason plastic is used in many products is because it can withstand up to tons of pressure per cm3, is cheap, is durable, and finally, there is no worry for discoloring. As a matter of fact, nearly all plastics are recyclable, but it 's the recycling companies ' machines that refuse to recycle that kind of plastic(eartheasy.com). I. Plastic, what have you done?
