Introduction/overview: World War 1 took place from 1914 to 1920. The war was divided between two camps: the Triple Entente, which consisted of France, Britain and Russia and The Triple Alliance which consisted of Germany, Anstro-Hungary and Italy. The trigger to this war starting was the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand on June 28, 1914. His death caused Hungary to declare war on Serloia, soon bringing all the countries into the conflict. Australia send troops to help the British during 1915. Going to fight was seen more as an adventure and a way to prove as proof that Australians had passed the “test” of nationhood.
