World War I was the very first war where a lot of harm was done to the civilians. It was supposed to be the war to end all wars. In fact it wasn’t; it was only just the beginning. The European countries started to create allies as they grew stronger it turned the West into two teams. The Allies and the Central Powers. There was a lot of hostility among the countries, but there was only one thing that set it off. This was the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This gave Austria-Hungary an excuse to go to war with Serbia like they always have. Germany then assured Austria-Hungary that they would help them if Russia were to intervene.
