INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this policy is to outline essential roles and responsibilities within the College community for creating and maintaining an environment that protects data from threats to personal and institutional interests. This policy is also designed to establish processes for ensuring the security and confidentiality of private information and to establish administrative, technical, and physical defenses to protect against unauthorized access or use of the information.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of this Policy is to make sure that all information of HCT College are adequately protected to the suitable level.

Users: Includes virtually all members of the HCT College community to the level they have authorized access to the HCT Information Resources, and it may include students, faculty, staff, and temporary employees.

Information Security: is the process of protecting the information assets regardless of method of storage, presentation or transmission from intentional or accidental disclosure, modification or loss of access.

Controls: It could be hardware, programs, policies, or physical safeguards which are put in place to assure the protection of information and the means of processing it.

Standards: a level of attainment that exist for a particular protective control.

Threats: are any activity that represents possible danger to the information. Danger can be anything that would negatively affect the confidentiality, integrity or availability of your systems or services.
