Legislation and Gun Control In this paper I will discuss the legislation process, the course along which a potential bill travels, and how it finally becomes a law. Three branches of the government, the Legislative, the Judicial, and the Executive, are involved in this process, and are in charge of overseeing and reviewing potential bills. Gun control is a leading issue of concern in our nation. I will present the pros and cons of gun control and how it directly affects the nursing profession. As health care professionals, it is our obligation to meliorate society's health care as a whole (American Nurses Association, 2010). While obtaining a patient’s past medical history, we assess one’s mental status, including suicidal and homicidal ideations. Part of the role in nursing includes speaking up when we have evidence something is wrong. We have the right to act effectively and relay anything that may pose a threat.
