Have you ever wonder why it takes so long to buy a gun. Well this paper will be describing the process why it takes so long, as well as pros and cons of gun control. Gun control is very important and there are many good things and bad things about it. Just by simply learning gun control laws could save yourself or someone else’s life. People may or may not listen to gun control laws because of its benefits and non-benefits, which include suicide, protecting yourself, and the importance of keeping track of a gun.
The first pros and cons for gun control is on suicides. More gun control leads to fewer suicides. Throughout 1999-2013, 270,237 firearm suicides were accounted for in the U.S. Suicide rates went down, when gun ownership went down. Easy access to firearms throughout many states may have a larger effect of male suicide rates. Bands on sales and permit requirements for minors were most effective for the regulations above. Gun control laws and lower gun ownership rates do not prevent suicides. This is a con for what was said above. Japan has a gun ownership of 0.6 guns per 100 people and a high suicide rate. Lithuania has one of the world's lowest gun ownership rates, but 45 out of 100,000 people would commit suicide. …show more content…

Legally owned guns are frequently stolen and used by criminals. Almost all guns used in criminal activity are stolen. In 2005-2010, 1.4 million guns were stolen from homes during property crimes. In the U.S., they average to about 232,400 guns stolen in a year. There are many cons for protecting yourself with gun control laws. Gun control laws would give to much power to the government over the people. The second amendment is not here for duck hunting, it is here to protect us from government’s power so they can’t come and take guns
