Essay On Renewable Energy

2014 Words9 Pages

RENEWABLE ENERGY Jacopo Filipetti
Wind, Current, Sun and Earth are all types of renewable energy sources, but first what’s renewable energy?
Renewable energy is any naturally occurring, theoretically inexhaustible source of energy, like biomass, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, biomass, hydroelectric power and tidal energy.
SOLAR ENERGY
This energy source is based on the sun’s energy; it can be obtained by using solar energy actively or passively, it uses special technology to capture the sun’s rays. The type of equipment used to absorb sunlight actively, are solar panels, they contain: Photovoltaic panels which convert sunlight directly into electricity, or mirror that focus the sun rays to specific places. These two techniques …show more content…

PROS
Its extremely cheap:
Geothermal energy generally involves low running costs since it saves 80% costs over fossil fuels and no fuel is used to generate the power. Since, no fuel is requiring so costs for purchasing, transporting and cleaning up plants is quite low.
CONS
The main disadvantage of geothermal energy, is that it requires dry ground and freshwater to proceed into the extraction, in some countries freshwater cannot be wasted, since it’s a vital source of energy BIOMASS ENERGY Biomass is any material that comes from plants or microorganisms that recently died. Plants create energy through photosynthesis, this energy stays stored inside the plant even after its death.
Trees, branches, scraps of bark and even derivatives from plants like paper, are common sources of biomass energy, also garbage, crops like corn, soy and sugar can be used to produce biomass.
We get energy from biomass by burning it. Wood chips, manure, and garbage are dried out and compressed into squares called briquettes.
After these briquettes are dried out, they cannot absorb any water, so they can be stored and burned to created heat, generating
