There were many changes that occurred after the Latin American Revolution. The Latin American revolutions were a string of events including many wars, crowning of new leaders, and ultimately a gain of independence from Spain in late 1833, almost 25 years after the first spark. The Revolutions changed Latin America by the new independent countries using a democratic government rather than a dictatorship, the balkanization of Latin America, and more freedom was gained for everyone who used to be under Spanish ruling.
The first change that occurred after the Latin American revolution was that Latin American countries started to use a democratic government rather than a dictatorship. After the revolutions the new countries adapted a new type of government, a democratic government. They could practice this new government because they split away from the Spanish dictatorship that the countries were under before. Before the Latin American revolution, in the year 1800, over 75% of Latin American and part of the present day United States of America belonged to the Spanish Colonies. But by the year 1830, over 95% of Latin America consisted of independent countries including Mexico, Chile, and Honduras. Also one of the biggest balkanization of a colony during this time was a sub colony of Spain. The colony was known as Viceroyalty of Peru, which included past capitals such as La Paz, Potosí, and present day Lima. Viceroyalty of Peru balkanized in 1821. Now post revolution the land that the Viceroyalty of Peru inhabited, now includes countries such as Chile, Bolivia, and of course Peru.
