Using specific examples from the video clip in your response, describe the changes would you make to your instruction—for the whole class and/or for students who need greater support or challenge—to better support student learning of the central focus (e.g., missed opportunities)?

The changes I would make to my instruction in the future for the whole class or individual students who need greater support or challenge include the following. I think the biggest missed opportunity I saw after reviewing the video was when I asked the whole class to show me with their thumbs the level of their understanding and didn’t give them appropriate instruction and time. I would also change the pace of my talking and slow down.

I would use more problems that looks like the warm-up because it follows teaching through problem solving strategy. This strategy will help students’ conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.
I would work on being able to explain the procedure more clearly and in different ways, because students have different learning styles. One thing that I notice and want to change for future teaching was that I was nervous, this could be because It was the first time that I was teaching in our classroom. As my cooperating teacher mentioned, I have to have the confidence and make sure that students understand that, when I start talking their responsivity is to focus on the lesson.
I also realized that I used the same phrase most of the time to get their attention. I have to use different phrases like “Ok!Class” or “ ladies and gentlemen”. These little details will make students to feel that I respect them and they will respect me
