You may call me a living testament of how life quotes find us, when we least expect it, but desperately need direction. Why don't you decide?

I was in my element that Sunday afternoon, browsing in a used book shop -one of those marvelous places where we are drawn inside by its dusty charm. Books were piled haphazardly on ceiling to floor bookshelves.

I was contentedly sitting cross-legged on the floor, in the writer and poets section, flipping through pages of the latest book on 'you-too-can-write-a-novel'.

Tingles raced down my spine. I experienced one of those rare moments of clarity where you know everything there is to know about something and you know that you know it.

I knew that it was time to take that single step, which I had been afraid to take all of my adult life.

I would become a writer! I had always believed I was born with the soul of a writer. However, an alcoholic, abusive mother had stripped away my self-esteem and creativity.

So, who shelved the Tao Te Ching in the wrong section? What caused it to tumble from the top shelf at that particular moment in time? Why did I open it to that specific page?
