In the book sameness means the loss of freedom. The loss of freedom means the loss of choice. Which people in the book need to have a choice of what they want or need. They think that it's dangerous for the people to have a choice in the world. But having a choice lets them have freedom. The choices in the world become all the same when someone decided to take control. What if somebody doesn't like all the choices that are made in the world? They just have to live with that final choice? They should be able to make the choice even if the choice is small so they can have at least a little bit of freedom in the world and so that everyone can be a bit unique. The choices that the people had were hardly none. They didn't get many choices like what job they got their schedule, clothes, spouse, or even their own children's names. The only choices they had were food choices and what they wanted to volunteer for when they were younger. The people had very little choice it was like they weren't trusted at all. Most of things that are the same cause the people in that world not being able to steal from each other.
