I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like for you to be part of the Holocaust. It was so disheartening to read about your experiences, and I can’t believe you actually had to go through that. What the Nazis did to Jews was terrible and can never happen again. I am so glad that you didn’t give up and lived to tell your story. It is so upsetting to see that so many people had to go through this traumatizing experience. Your determination and perseverance is inspiring. Nobody deserves to be tortured and taunted because because of their religion. Fortunately, you made the best of your situation, and you have a lot to be proud of. You and your brothers were determined to stay together. You were willing to put yourselves at risk for each other. When you were ill, Motele and Moishele gave up their bread to get medicine for you. You were a family, and you were adamant about not being separated. When your mother was taken, and child protective services came, you refused to be split up. Your persistence was what kept you together for so long. A lot of the people in the ghetto completely lost hope. They thought their whole family was gone forever, when they could’ve been alive. From your mother, you learned that, “As long as there is life, there is hope.” From your determination, I learned that if you believe in yourself, you will succeed.
