To start off, a positive work environment can help the communication of employees flow better. Open communication is really important in the workplace, for all of the workers. When employees have open communication, work becomes easier and proficient. In the poem What I Wouldn’t Do, the narrator states “I liked the donut shop best, 3 AM,” (Laux line 29), it can be seen that the narrator does not like working with others and would rather be closed off from communication with others. Looking deeper into the poem, all of the jobs she describes having, have never lasted, this shows that jobs without communication are not as reliable. If a workplace has open communication employees will be more encouraged to give their opinions and share their thoughts. If there is not open communication, then an employee may not feel that their opinions are valuable, as compared to others. Recognition for hard work is a great way to accomplish a positive work environment. If an employee receives recognition and positive reinforcement, they will the prompted to continue carrying out the hard work. Recognition can range from a small verbal recognition by another employee or a superior; to a pay raise or promotion in the company. Even the smallest bit of recognition can change how an employee works and their opinion about the company. Smart companies do not want their employees to be unhappy, without recognition, there is no reason for an employee to be positive in their work environment. An employee will naturally feel good about their work and what they put into the company if recognition is consistent. This is crucial for a healthy work environment. Without worrying about not getting anything in return, an employee will be more accepting to always working to their fullest
