Napoleon Bonaparte displayed many of the characteristics of a villain. He was manipulative, selfish, and determined. He exhibits these Machiavellian traits through the domestic and foreign policies he established during his height of power. He made it clear in the Napoleonic Code that women should not have any authority in the household and that men are to be in control. He made reckless choices with selfish motives that eventually lead to his downfall. Due to his discrimination towards women, recklessness, and extreme thirst for power, Napoleon has proven himself to be a detestable and chaotic ruler. During the time of the French Revolution, progress was being made for women’s rights. This meant more jobs were being created for a growing economy in France. It was a shift in ideology to a more liberal France. Napoleon wanted to defeat the British after taking over the major powers of the continent such as Austria and Spain.
