Pearl Harbor was certainly one of the most dramatic turning points in American history. The tragedy of Pearl Harbor shocked and united the people of America for a single purpose and a goal to a greater extent than any even before or since. As both nations were both recovering from their own great depression, the Japanese were already seeking for power and land. The United States however only wanted to avoid war and to prosper as a country. But on December 7th 1941, the American outlook changed suddenly and awoke the island of Hawaii. The goal was to wipe out the pacific American fleet so that japan could force America to surrender their raw materials.
