The manner in which an individual deals with failure, is a true determinant of their character. In the novel, The Lord of the Flies, the three main characters have detrimental failures. The first member, Ralph, is the island leader, who fails to keep the boys together as one. The second member is Simon, who dies while attempting to tell the boys that there is no mythical beast. Jack, the third and final member, fails to become the island leader, igniting an endless spark in him.
To begin with, the first trait that Ralph exhibits throughout the novel is his kindness. Ralph always has a helpful and considerate nature that makes the boys on the island feel comfortable and safe. Ralph shows his kindness throughout the novel when he stands up for Piggy and the littluns, who
A leader to one may not be a leader to all, but a respected leader is recognized as the best. A group of boys stranded on an island starts the tale of Lord of Flies by William Golding leading to an adventurous tale. This takes place in World War II surrounding the life of young British Boys. The boys on the island vote to decide on a chief among themselves and Ralph comes out victorious. Although Ralph is not the oldest or strongest, the little ones follow him endlessly through the well-earned respect that shines in his leadership.
“How could you be safe by the little stream or on the open beach?” (183) After Ralph ran away, he was alone with no one to help him while he was injured. Ralph doesn’t feel safe anywhere since they group of savage boys could be anywhere to attack Ralph. After they group of boys decided to join Jack in his tribe, the group of boys turned into savages.
I believe that partially everyone was to blame for what happened on the island but most importantly I believe it was mainly Jack and Ralph. The reason why I think Ralph is to blame is because he kept the fire as one of the main priorities and wouldn’t really shut up about it and I think that if he did focus as much as he did on the fire with shelter, attaining food and water then they wouldn’t have divided. The other reason I believe Ralph is to blame is because he only enforced that someone would have to keep the fire in control and didn’t coerce the boys into making shelters. I think Ralph is to blame for what happened on the island because he was cocky and didn’t really want to listen to other boys. I think if he toned it down a little bit,
Ralph is a fictional character from the famous novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Throughout the book, Ralph stood out in many ways by either his actions or by his charismatic personality. His traits made him a unique character in the book since it ranged from leadership, to sympathy for others. The other characters were not as different as Ralph as they were either too cocky, like the antagonist of the story, jack, or highly intelligent but too shy, like his friends Piggy and Simon.
The Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, is a book where a group of boys end up stranded on a deserted island; leaving them to form their own society. Ralph goes through a significant transformation of his character throughout the story. He is portrayed as a mature leader, confident, and charismatic. The were no adults on the Island because there was a plane crash on Island. And maybe, the parents of the characters didn't involve in an island. And the boys were looking and finding the right direction in a jungle and onto the beach. Ralph was quite rude to Piggy and he didn’t want to hear himself a “Fatty”. 2.
In Chapter Seven, Ralph is struggling to keep his civility from the ever increasing lure of atavism. Throughout the chapter, Ralph was attracted to savagery and atavism by taking part in many atavistic activities with Jack and the hunters. They tried to hunt pigs, play games, and climb mountains. While taking part in these activities, Ralph nearly forgets his real mission, to find the beast. The increasing lure of atavism nearly overtakes him when he watches a reenactment of a hunt by Jack and the hunters.

In the book Lord of the Flies one of the main characters is named Ralph. Ralph is a born leader who tries to lead the boys to get back home from a deserted island.
I do believe that the main character changed by the end of the book, although some other characters changed a bit more, I still believe that Ralph changed drastically during the entire span of the book. Ralph, I believe that he starts out as an optimistic and calm boy, and with confidence in himself and that they are going to find a way off the island and a way back home. But, during chapter nine, a savage side shows while he joins the boys chanting about the pig. He only realizes, that later, he never should have participated in the cruel and horrifying act, because of how frightened the whole scene made him. Upon arriving, Ralph’s primary ambition is to get off the island safely, considering the expected immaturity in reaction to the boys’ sudden loss of authority. He manages to maintain this intention regardless of his job or worth in society among the boys. As evil challenges his capability to retain this quality by the irony of the fire, breaking of the conch, and overall destruction of civilization, demonstrates his level of mental strength considering all of the odds against his favor. Having the, “voice of someone who [knows their] own mind,” and instituting an independent attitude towards his goal, Ralph displays competence and trust in his capabilities rather than depending on that of others. As displayed in his immediate need for order, Ralph establishes a plan to get off of the island.
At first glance, Ralph is a central character who starts and completes William Golding novel The Lord of the Flies. From the onset of the novel, he is described as a “fair boy” with an “attractive appearance” (p7, 29). The author compares his stature as that of a boxer, “as far as width and heaviness of shoulders went, but there was a mildness about his mouth and eyes that proclaimed no devil” (p11). He has the physique and presence of a typical leader – strong but with a kind heart that makes him trustworthy.
Everyone has this underlying darkness within them that is hidden away deep inside the nooks and crannies of their hearts. Golding presents the protagonist, Ralph, who is decently intelligent and completely civilized, to demonstrate how once individuals are pulled away from civilization, the dark forces within them will arise and change how they are for the time being.
In the book The Lord of the Flies we can see that many conflicts happen while the kids are in the island, most of these conflicts are struggled to be solved. The main conflict and the one that I 'm going to be talking about is the conflict between Ralph and Jack, were both boys compete for power. Ralph is more civilized and tries to make a fire and build tents while Jack is more of a savage who uses violence and wants to hunt all the time. Its is easy to see that in this literary piece the author uses many conflicts to make the reader visualize wants happening in the island. Ralph is voted by the boys to be the leader of the group, in the book he represents leadership, civilization and order.
