There are many differences in cultural practices between the Hmong and Americans. In the first chapter, soon after birth, the father in the Hmong family dug a hole at least two feet deep in the dirt floor and buried the placenta. Traditionally, if it was a girl, her placenta was buried under her parents’ bed; if it was a boy, his placenta was buried in a place of greater honor like near the base of the house’s central wooden pillar. In America, there are many policies in place that prevent people to take home the placenta of their children. It is usually taken to the laboratory and then disposed of as “biohazardous waste”.

During the times of the Jim Crow laws in the southern United States and apartheid in South Africa, blacks were segregated against and treated very poorly. There were a lot of similarities as well as a lot of differences in the way that blacks were treated in both countries. For example, blacks were denied their rights as humans in both countries. In the United States and in South Africa, blacks couldn't attend the same schools as whites and they weren't allowed to vote either. However, there were a few differences between the segregation in both countries.
The North and South of the united states were divided on many things prior to the Civil War. Other than the difference in geographical location, the North and South were separated by their stances on slavery, politics, and their unique economic structures. There were many differences between the exploitation of slaves, economic structure, and the political composition between the North and South, but the most important by far was the utilization of the institution of slavery used in the Southern United States. There were many contrasting elements between the economies of the North and South. The South's economy mainly relied on and was supported by slave labour in agriculture, while the North was a free society, which enabled their industrialization.

The economic differences between the North and the South was mainly between industrial/manufacturing and the South’s reliance on cotton.
Most members of society would not consider a domestic terrorist a brilliant mind. Theodore John Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, is noted to have an IQ, or intelligence quotient, of 167. According to the article “What is IQ?” by Mensa International, IQ is “a type of standard score that indicates how far above, or how far below, his/her peer group an individual stands in mental ability. The peer group score is an IQ of 100; this is obtained by applying the same test to huge numbers of people from all socio-economic strata of society, and taking the average” (Mensa).

I was born and raised up in South Korea for twenty years, and thus I know Korean culture very well. I also understand American culture as well, because I lived and worked with Americans for four years. I decided to choose this topic, because in my experience, I have noticed a lots of differences between Korean culture and American culture; for example how Korean or American treat older people, how Korean or American act in the gym, and about the differences in foods. I picked those subjects because I have experienced the Koreans and Americans side well enough to understand both and I’m currently in South Korea with military men and women. The company had a number of marketing implications including the lack of market segmentation, the fragmented and inconsistent brand messaging, and the skepticism faced internally about marketing in general. As a result of the new management initiative in 1993, the direction of the brand started to change. Eric Kim was hired as the right person to take Samsung global. However, aside from changing the brand perception globally, he needed to change it internally among Samsung employees first, and once he achieved that, he started working on repositioning the brand externally. First, he formed the “Global Marketing Operations” (GMO) team to research and manage the new brand.
In general, it is hard for foreign companies to establish themselves in the Asian market, especially in China, because of the strong cultural background. It will not work out well for a foreign company to adapt its marketing model to the Chinese market. Marketing models such as direct marketing of the brand, which works well in the American market, is likely to fail in the Chinese market. Although Groupon has spent millions into marketing its brand on the Chinese market, the Chinese customers were not ready to see the brand’s products being better as the one of its competitors. Chinese customers are less likely to be loyal to any brand due to their low levels of indulgence.

Nationalism, especially in South Korea where having a nationalistic attitude is of social norm with deep history, has a substantial influence on the culture and way of life. We have seen nationalism work in favor of the country, however we fail to take into account the devastating drawbacks of possessing this nationalistic attitude.
