The Edmund Fitzgerald is a big mystery like the Titanic and just like the Titanic it has lots of theories on how it sank but to pacific there was 4 theories on how it sank on November 10, 1975 on lake Superior. People still don’t know what happened to the Edmund Fitzgerald till this day or what happened to her crew 29 men because no one lived to tell the tale of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Captain Edward Smith was to drive the ship from England to New York. Smith went to school as a child, but dropped out at age 12 to be a sailor. He had sailed a lot of cargo ships, but not many passenger ships.

I am reading a marvelous book of the I Survived books called I survived the Sinking of the Titanic by: Lauren Tarshis. I love the series of this books they are so good and most of the time filled with lots of mysteries. Most of the time the book is written in a Third Person…Limited omniscient because the author Lauren is talking as the main character George. The setting takes place as they said the unsinkable ship “The Titanic” It took place in the 1912 of April 15 and was one of the most horrific thing that had ever happened.
Causes: When the titanic sank to the bottom of the ocean; it was 70 years until the wreckage was found by an expedition that was run by a famous oceanographer. Course: The unsinkable ship was out at sea for 3 days and hit an iceberg and 2 ½ hours to sink everyone was not able to be saved. The lifeboats could have held around 1000 people but only 705 people were saved. 1,500 people died that night.
The Titanic, most definitely man’s greatest accomplishment, is made in Belfast, Ireland, where it is then set off into the open ocean, and set for Southampton, England. From there, on April 11, 1912, 2:00 p.m., the Titanic sets sail for New York. All seems well, and it looks for the first time, that man has built the “unsinkable ship.” However, the hopes, lives, ship and all are cut down by an iceberg and now rest at the bottom of the Atlantic. This horrendous fact was shown in both the book and the movie, “A Night to Remember,” along with many other facts and stories.

All of these people sure do whether they survived or not, they all remember the night the luxurious Titanic was turned into scrap metal by an iceberg, and how only a fraction of the third-class passengers lived to tell the tale while almost every first-class passenger sailed safely home. It was the Edwardian Era and there was much going on. There was only a small minority of wealthy, but they took about a third of the country's national income. They dined fine with almost twenty-seven plates of food all on porcelain.

In her article, Bethel compared our culture to an iceberg. This simile (comparison) was noted several times. She says “Imagine culture as an iceberg,” “But like an iceberg, most of culture exists below the surface,” and “Like an iceberg, culture exists below the surface” (Bethel, paragraph 6). For all those that has watched The Titanic, you should have remember that this huge cruise ship was sunken by an iceberg. Thus, one who has looked closely at an iceberg, would know that only about 10% of an iceberg peaks at the surface and about 90% is below the water.
The Titanic’s maiden voyage was a disaster because the people didn’t prepare for things like this. Most ships go over a safety procedures, but the Titanic didn’t do such a thing. They only rescued wealthy people, which I felt was wrong. Some passengers jumped off the ship in desperation. Whoever drove the ship couldn’t have been paying attention.

In David R. Slavitt’s poem “Titanic,” many poetry elements contribute to the theme: everyone dies and no one can escape death. The theme is portrayed in several ways. Imagery is shown throughout the fourteen lines of the poem and put pictures into the reader’s mind that help to understand the theme. The diction of the poem helps to reinforce this theme of death. The poem’s diction is comical in some ways, but also light hearted when the author describes the many amenities and people that were on the ship the time of the crash.
