It was so good to see you today Grandma and Grandpa. Before you leave, I want to talk to you about a topic we have been discussing in business school called the Triple bottom line, or three Ps. Have you ever heard of it? It is pretty interesting. It seems that businesses are finding out that by adopting a sustainable strategy, there is profit to be made in doing good. Companies are beginning to place a great deal of importance on taking care of the environment and its people, in addition to earning a profit. They want to make sure that their company is benefiting all the stakeholders including their employees, the surrounding community, and the area (Scott, 2012). As Christians, isn’t this a wonderful addition to the corporate mindset of old, to actually be concerned for people. IKts like the mantra ‘What would Jesus do’ has automatically been added to the mission statement of corporate America. To top it off, there is also a concern for the planet. The ecological dimension of businesses have added recycling and reverse logistics into their supply chain, as well as the use of green products, and concern for the environmental footprint the company is leaving behind it. These added dimensions are being incorporated for several reasons. Being good corporate citizens earns businesses brownie points, and can increase their sales. In addition, as the best employees are looking for work, they are incentivized to work for companies incorporate in a triple bottom line because more people are looking to make a difference in their jobs, in addition to the financial rewards.
