In the book Shoot your Shot, by Vernon Brundage jr he talks about the big names in the NBA like Lebron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, and many more basketball players who are known for their crazy high skill level and how they adhered to to become the best players. Throughout the book it goes over how each individual player has or had key principles that were applied to their lives and how they can be applied to the readers' lives as well. Being surrounded by others who are also working towards a goal can create a sense of accountability and support. This can be important in helping individuals to stay on track and achieve their desired outcomes. When working for a company that specializes in business meeting a quota is a goal that everybody in a workplace wants to meet . When working with coworkers, coworkers want to surround themselves with people who have the same mindset and dedication that will help everybody achieve that quota. Same thing goes with school. This theme connects to the movie Rocky 1 and 2 because Rocky surrounds himself with people who want to see him succeed. For Example Mickey Goldmill who helps Rocky train in both the first and second movie to beat the world champion Apollo Creed. Another example of staying surrounded with those who want to succeed in the Rocky 1 and 2 movie is Paulie Pennino. Paulie worked at Shamrock Meat company and let Rocky train for his boxing match against Apollo Creed in the meat locker. Rocky punched the beef ribs until they broke, which is a huge factor to why Rocky went the distance against Apollo and landed so many strong rib shots. For example, “A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, worked his tail off to develop them in the skills, and uses the skills to accomplish his goal”(Brundage 37). Using unique talents can help recognize and utilize an individualist strengths and talents to create a unique path. This can happen from taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone to accomplish those goals and passions. The theme use unique talents on a unique path is recognized in the movie Rudy. Rudy used his unique talents which was he had a mindset than no other player had, he had dedication, grit, and out worked everybody. He used those unique talents to help him make the Notre Dame football team which was the unique path that he took. Rudy being on that football team really helps him realize and achieve what his goal is, which is being able to run through the tunnel. Having a team like Notre Dame support Rudy’s talents and realize what he wants to achieve really benefits
