Imagine being stuck in an island with no adult supervision, only 15 kids trying to figure out how to be rescued. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the plane that the boys were riding got shot down and crash landed into a deserted island. The first mistake was that Jack’s main priority was to kill the pig. Jack promised Ralph that he would keep the fire going. “There was a ship. Out there. All you can think about is pig, pig, pig!” (Golding 54). Jack spent all his time trying to catch a pig when he was suppose to make sure the smoke signal was going off. He was wasting his time on a pig that he doesn’t even catch. This mistake could’ve been if Jack had left a few of the hunters with the fire instead of taking all of them. If he had left some of the hunters the boys could’ve have been rescued faster
