Celebration of culture for Indigenous Australians is imperative as a tool for defining and conserving their identity. By actively participating in traditional Indigenous culture in the form of games, students from diverse backgrounds can form an awareness and respect for Indigenous culture. The “Puldjungi” ball game instruction sheet could be used as an activity for a physical education lesson for grade five students in Victoria (Australian Sports Commission, 2008). The Puldjungi game would provide students with an example of a game which was played by young Indigenous Australians in Victoria. By partaking in the Puldjungi game, students will learn about an aspect of Indigenous Australian culture in Victoria in a fun and practical way.
Failure for Moorestown girls lacrosse is not an option. This powerhouse lacrosse program had a winning streak of eighty-eight consecutive games. My sophomore year the program experienced their first loss in what seemed like forever. Continuously, the timer on the scoreboard got closer to triple zeros, everyone’s hearts went into their throats anticipating the end. The opposing team was up by one and were stalling the ball.
Nifong and the Duke Lacrosse case highlight several key institutional failures of the justice system in regards to prosecutorial discretion, prosecutor accountability, and the prosecutors dilemma. Prosecutors are considered by many to be the most powerful actors in the courtroom proceedings as they follow the case from the time of arrest to the sentencing. Prosecutors have a lot of discretion in the justice process as they are the ones who decide: Do I prosecute? Who do I prosecute?

While the game played by men and women have the same goal, scoring to win, the sport of men’s and women’s lacrosse is incredibly different making it difficult to compare. From an outsider’s perspective, it may appear as if the only difference is the gender. However, when examining the rules, there are more differences than similarities such as the equipment used, the protective gear worn and the amount of physical contact allowed. These are just a few of many of the differences.
Will Lacrosse Be More Diverse? Lacrosse is a rapidly growing sport across the country, but it largely remains a dominate white sport. According to the most recent N.C.A.A Study only about 1.9% of the division is African American leaving the other 98.1 all the other races, (mostly white). A majority of the teams have one to two players that are white but there are teams, like Cornell, that still have all white players.
When one considers historical development from 1607 through 1865 in what eventually would become the United States of America, it is though a game of basketball was being played with the lives of the people. In the first quarter the slaves are playing against the indentured servants, England owning both teams. The second quarter entails the French, colonists and slaves in the American Revolution versus the European powerhouse England. The third quarter parallels the United States purchase of 828,000 square miles of Louisiana from France. The fourth quarter encompasses colonization and abolitionism, activity centered on expelling free blacks from the United States, or ending slavery across the board.
Lacrosse was invented by Native Americans, and was originally known as stickball. Initially, the game was played in the St. Lawrence Valley area of New York by the Algonquian tribe, but later other eastern tribes adopted the game. Stickball games were played for many different purposes. They were often used to resolve conflicts between tribes, and to train young tribal warriors for battle. They held a deep religious meaning for Native Americans, and they were said to prepare the spirit for combat.
A Key Difference Between Girls and Boys Lacrosse The referee’s whistle blows fiercely. “You have been given a red card due to holding of the stick, covering of the ball, and stick checking above the shoulders in a dangerous manner.” Many boys and girls play an exciting sport called lacrosse, but play with different equipment and rules for each gender. These differences impact an essential part of the game, stick checking. Stick checking in lacrosse occurs when you lightly whack your opponent's stick and try to get them to lose control of the ball.

It was the middle of January, dead of winter of my eighth grade year. Coach Brooklyn Howell, the Lady Cougars basketball coach came up to me and said “come tonight, 5:30 at Byrnes Freshman Academy to try out and see if you like lacrosse.” I did not really know if I wanted to play in the cold, because I was so used to playing in a warm gym during the cold winter months. Lacrosse really did not seem like a sport that I wanted to play. But I tried it out anyway.
