God makes a covenant with Moses called the Mosaic covenant, which is the covenant between God and the nation of Israel. The covenant was made at Mount Sinai, where God makes Moses the leader of Israel. This covenant is conditional because its organized in the form of blessings and curses. God states “I will set my Dwelling among you, and will not disdain you.
Have you ever seen traditions or rituals that have been going on for a long time and realize they are bad for people? In the story, The Giver, by Lois Lowry, it is a fictional story about a boy named Jonas who finds something about his community that nobody else knows. In the short story, “The Lottery”, by Shirley Jackson, it is a dramatic story about a game that the whole community participates in but there is a twist about it that is very terrifying. In the stories, Lowry and Jackson both use the plot of the story to show that not all traditions should continue.
God in Exodus and in the end of Genesis is proven to adhere to his word. His promise to Abraham was that if the covenant is obeyed, Abraham’s descendants will outnumber the stars and will have the land of Canaan. In order to obey the covenant, God has to free the Israelites from the rule of the Pharaoh. God sends Moses and Aaron to convince the Pharaoh that they are messengers from God and to release the Israelites at once. The Pharaoh does not believe them, so He enacts the ten plagues on the people of Egypt, with his final plague killing the firstborn of every household.

In ancient times there was a man named Abraham. He was a humble sheepherder who lived in Ur, Mesopotamia. Although Mesopotamia believed in many gods, Abraham believed in one. He and god made a covenant, or a religious agreement, that God would protect him and his people while Abraham leads the people to the “promised land.” He got together a group of Mesopotamians and went to Canaan, “the promised land.”

Moses plays the largest role in Exodus, as he is the voice of God and the new influence to the Israelites. He is used largely to convey God's words to the people, and to present to them their covenant to follow in order to access the promised land. For Jewish believers in today's day and age, he is held in the most pious stance, and remembered every Passover and Sabbath, for he is the one that freed the Israelites and led them to this holy land. However, at the time, it took much convincing from his brother Aaron to ensure the Israelites that he was there to help them, not do them any harm as they had previously thought. In the story of Exodus, God had a plan for Moses and Aaron. He told Moses that he was to go to the elders and explain to them that God has chosen him to speak through. God gave Moses powers, such as his staff turning into a snake, to prove to the elders and the pharaoh that he was really sent by God. He then told Moses he is supposed to go to the pharaoh and ask him to let the Israelites go for a sacrifice they must make to their God, three days away. God told him that the pharaoh would deny this request so God will use force when necessary; the force being the plagues.
In the Bible as in Literature, though Moses’ belief in God is inconsistent at times, his flourishing faith is able to give him strength in becoming the leader that he now is, and having the persistence and durability to save the Israelites. Without God’s guidance and knowledge, Moses’ courage would be nonexistent. God approaches Moses, when he is in need, pleading for Moses to advise the Israelites into safety, unfortunately Moses is first low in determination for himself. In order to officially escape the Israelites out of Egypt, he needs God’s overpowering spirit to bring down destructive plagues on the vile Egyptians. At the final exit to freedom, Moses is at a dead-end, and only one man has the ability to help Moses split the waters, solely God himself.
(Exodus 3-4) Dealing with his pride, he went from privilege to poverty, to trailing about the dessert with grumbling people who took a long time to learn the lessons God was trying to teach them: humility, submission, and to be humble in the presence of the Lord. One of Moses’s major trials seems to have been the difference between what he thought his assets were, and what God thought his assets were. When he finally obeyed and fulfilled God’s will for him, Moses then had to bring law to the Israelites, and ultimately all Christians, while doing his best to keep them focused on the many blessings God had granted them. Moses brought the new covenant to the people.
God is a servant and will spread justice to all nations. It also says that Jewish people will protect, support, and give them all the courage and strength to move beyond their struggles. In the Sacred Narrative two, the Covenant with Abraham, the covenant is important to the Jewish people. Abraham is called by God to leave his home and go into God’s covenant.
Old Testament Covenants In the Old testament you see God making a lot of promises. During Biblical times these were called Covenants. A Covenant is an “Arrangement between two parties involving mutual obligations; especially the arrangement that established the relationship between God and his people, expressed in grace first with Israel and then with the church. Through that covenant God has conveyed to humanity the meaning of human life and salvation Covenant is one of the central themes of the Bible, where some covenants are between human beings, other between God and Human Beings.”
God made covenants with the Jewish people. The first covenant was between God and Abraham. God chose Abraham to be the father of a group of people that would be special to God. God said Abraham and his descendants must obey God and live their life in a way that shows the world God was the only supreme God. In return God would protect them, help them, and give them the land of Canaan to live.
