According to Document 2 “In the period following the end of World War 1, Germany experianced a disastrous perioid of inflation. The German governemnts method of financing the war by borrowing heavily and printing large quantities of unbacked currency began th inflationary spiral. This lead to political violence.” The german economy was in ruins at the time, one us dollar was equivilant to 4,200,000,000,000 German marks at one point. This helped Hitler Rise to power because the people felt that their economy was very very weak because of the government, and they wanted a new upgraded government.
Also the Treaty made Germany unwillingly pay reparations for the damage they caused during the war,
During the interwar period, Germany’s economy grew worse and worse, arousing anger among the entire German population. Hitler saw this discontent, and used the failing economy to incite nationalism among his people, propelling him to power and war. Germany’s failed economy is arguably the result of aggressive reparations set on them by the Treaty of Versaille. Following WWI, the Allied forces agreed Germany was responsible “for all the damage done to the civilian population of the Allied and Associated Powers and to their property”
Germany had to take responsibility for the Great War. However, while Germany was paying to rebuild the rest of the world, Germany fell into a depression itself. Luckily for the Germans, a man named Adolf Hitler
Germany was punished harshly, in the Versailles Treaty, over their involvement in the Great War thus provoking anger and humiliation which set the stage for World War II. Disciplines such as significant territorial
German inflation occurred and their economy collapsed. Throughout 2 and 6 the ideals of debt for Germany are expressed. In document 2, John Maynard Keynes shares his work called The Economic Consequences of Peace. It basically discusses the severity of the economic depression in Germany. It also talks about how it could lead to starvation.
The debt cycle continued on between Germany, Great Britain, France, and the United States until the Great Depression caused the economy to collapse. Germany made an abortive attempt to solve the problem by printing more money to pay off its debts. Consequently, this worsened the situation; hyperinflation in Germany devastated the lives of the entire German population, people were helpless and in poverty, many even used the worthless currency to cook and make fire (“Konwinski Binder”). In fact, Germany was not able to pay off its war debts until a century later (Smith), emphasizing the lasting impact of war. Not only did the economic crisis cause the German citizens to panic, when Kaiser Wilhelm II fled to exile after the Treaty of Versailles was signed, an unstructured political organization spread fear throughout Germany.
These countries heavily relied on the U.S. to lend them money so they could pay back debts from the war. Later in the depression countries were unable to payback their debts due to the growth of protectionism and international trade decreasing. For example, Britain and France were in need of german reparations to pay off their own debts, but Germany was unable to meet this demand because their own economy was already falling to pieces. Because of Germany's inability to make the reparation payments, it affected other countries.
He tried to create a partner that would never leave and in order to accomplish this he drilled holes in their skulls and tried different chemicals to try to create a “zombie.” Dahmer’s twisted logic led him to eat his victims in order for them to be a part of him. Clearly, these actions are not of a person you would consider sane. Dahmer tried unsuccessfully to uses the insanity defense.
The Treaty of Versailles created multiple economic problems for Germany, such as inflation and unemployment, by demanding a reduction in Germany trade, reparations, taking away resources and industry. The German were separated from each other due to the Treaty of Versailles taking away Germany territory. An unpopular government was also put into place because of the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler wanted to make
The Potsdam Conference in 1945 stated that they wanted to put back Germany’s economy together, however, the other powers had a conflict of interest during their occupation which led to drastic differences between East and West Germany. Different policies were set on either sides, and there were conflicts between the U.S. and Russian zones. The Soviet Union stopped the manufacturing of equipments, which was a major source of money of the reparations, on the other hand, in West Germany, there was a greater concentration on building up the economy.
When Germany printed overloads of money it caused hyperinflation. Money was barren. Food prices were high and countless people could not afford food and starved. Children were playing with packed money out on the streets. To solve Weimar’s economy problem, Gustav Stresemann introduced new currency.
After Germany signed the Treaty of Versailles nations of Germany had live miserable lives, because high inflation happened in Germany. Germany made a wrong decision when they had to pay money. Instead of taxing people to give money for the damage to Allies, Germany borrowed a lot of money from other countries. As a result they had to pay more money with a huge debt.
“Tariff barriers are duties imposed on goods which effectively create an obstacle to trade, although this is not necessarily the purpose of putting tariffs in place” (wiseGEEK, 2015). Tariffs can make it very difficult for the importers because they must import less due to not being able to afford the tariffs. Germany’s few tariffs are on bananas, certain pharmaceuticals, rice, and uranium. There were also technology agreements on computer monitors, printers, and certain cable or satellite setups that finally ended in 2011. Some imported goods to Germany would be jewelry, books, footwear, lawn equipment, mining equipment, plastic, oil, gas, and so on.
that someone needed to pay for. Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Tordesillas that would make them pay for the building up of Europe. This
