“Social power is the ability to achieve goals even if other people oppose those goals.” (Hurst, 2013). Aside from the compromises and battles, Social Power is the main reason the American Civil War commenced. During the War, “Approximately 620,000 soldiers died from combat, accident, starvation, and diseases.” (Civil War Trust Corporate , n.d.). It was an irrepressible conflict that was inevitable because aside from the power among the federal government/congress, slavery, Manifest Acts and battles also played a major role in the cause of the war. It can be said; the Civil War was based upon supremacy. During this civil war, president Jefferson Davis and President Abraham Lincoln lead the way to the civil war. To commence with, slavery has always been around. Ever since humans began to evolve and expand their knowledge, slavery commenced and is unavoidable until this day. Thenceforward the Revolution, Slavery was dealt with several times and pursued for a solution. The Missouri compromise of 1820 was created to preserve the balance of power in congress after the Louisiana Purchase, admitting Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free State. Furthermore, an amendment was submitted, creating the 36 30 line, which divided the northern free states and the southern slave states. Leading up to the social compact, which included the great compromise, 3/5 compromise, and the fear of the state having too much power between the Antifederalist and Federalist. Followed by the Compromise of 1850, which introduced five separate bills- Abolishing slavery from only Washington D.C., and strengthening the fugitive slave laws to try to – but all this caused was rebellion and runaway slaves.
