To White Fang this quote shows that the people in his life had a greater impact changing who he was because of their actions and not by their words. In “White Fang” by Jack London, White Fang is a wolf, taken from the wild by a tribe of Indians, then an evil, mistreated, coward, and finally a kind land owner. These people all change the way he acts, thinks, and feels. A wolf with the wild inside him, then turned into a sled dog in the Yukon, a vicious dog fighter, and then a god’s pet, all of these things have one thing in common and that thing is humans changing White Fang. White Fang was just a pup taken from the Wild with his mother to the indian camp and then taken from his mother in such a short time. In this time period Gray Beaver controlled White Fang and altered White Fang’s free puppy spirit from the Wild and because of this, “he was a sneak and a thief, a mischief-maker, a formenter of trouble; and irate squaws told him to his face, the while he eyed them alert and ready to dodge any quick-flung missile, that he was a wold and worthless and bound to come to an evil end.” (86). White Fang is changed negatively in this situation because of the humans that have mistreated him including Gray Beaver who constantly beats White Fang during this time in his life. When White Fang was mistreated he acts differently, thinks differently, and he even states that, “He was becoming more morose, more companionable, more solitary, more ferocious…” (108). This maltreatment from humans changed how White Fang sees the world and how he sees himself. The definition of impact is “have a strong effect on someone or something.” -google. Gray Beaver definitely has a strong impact on White Fang’s life and he uses this power to change White
