My character Atticus finch is the man of the hour in To kill a Mockingbird. He possess many traits. On of his many is the fact that he is accepting. In the early 19 hundreds people were very racist even after the segregation laws were passed. Atticus didn’t care what you looked like. Even his defendant Tom Robinson was black and crippled and Atticus still defended him like all of the others. Another great trait Atticus has is that he is patient. In the courthouse Mayella Ewell started crying. Everyone else wanted her to stop while but Atticus let her take her time and cry it out. He also was patient and walked away when Bob Ewell spit in his face. A trait Atticus posses is that he is very sharp. In the courthouse there were many examples of …show more content…
When everyone in maycomb was still being racist even after the laws were passed Atticus was doing everything in his power to make a white and black man equal. He does this by supporting Tom Robinson in the case. People in the early 19 hundreds believed that a lawyer should not support a black man as well as he would support a white. Atticus didn’t have this way of thinking. In this time in history blacks were viewed very poorly. Even the best black man was worse than the most disgusting white man. That is why in To kill a Mockingbird, Even the sweetest man such as Tom Robinson is not a decent human being, even when compared to Bob Ewell. Another example of why Atticus is so accepting is in this time period people with disabilities were not seemed as fit to do things. Tom had a crippled arm and that didn’t stop atticus. Toms crippled arm actually helped attius provide tons of doubt in the …show more content…
I think this because Atticus got the Tom Robinson case. This case was not randomly handed to his. The judge gave it to him because he is the only one that could provide doubt in the jury and defend a black man just as well as a white man. He shows this because normally in a white man vs. black man case the jury is out in minutes. In this case it takes them hours. He also shows that he is smart by tricking the Ewells. He has Bob write his name down with his left hand. Thi shows that since Bob writes with his left and not his right it would be a lot easier to punch the right side of mayella's face. Tom has a crippled right hand and it would not be possible for
