• Don’t let the judgement of others stop the pursuit of personal dreams and aspirations - When Jeannette is concerned about others judging her family for not conforming to society’s rules and regulations, her mom responds with, “Life’s too short to worry about what other people think…they should accept us for who we are” (Walls 157). • Don’t make assumptions concerning an individual’s life - After Jeannette becomes a successful journalist, she realizes that many people believe that she has a perfect life; many people are unaware of her parents’ situation. She decides that she “…[wants] to let the world know that no one had a perfect life, that even the people who seemed to have it all had their secrets” (Walls 270). • Determination and perseverance have tremendous power to enable
This quote shows us many things about how life works and affects many people. Power, loyalty, revenge, and fear are big feelings
As Hank starts his trot to the plate the crowd begins in an uproar and as he steps in the box and rest the bat in his hands and sees the ball coming down the middle he has an instant flashback to how it all started. Henry Aaron Louis also known as Hank Aaron or Hammerin Hank was an overall great person as an amazing athlete. Henry's career started when his father took him to a speech Jackie Robinson was speaking at. That is when he decided to dedicate himself to baseball from that point on.
Throughout the reading of ‘Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics’ I have gained a great interest of his ethical work on bravery. In Aristotle’s writing about bravery he comes across the meaning of bravery and how it differs from a rash man and a cowardly man. Although one may see as if a brave man is able to face his fear and conquer anything that will send him away from his purpose. There are different types of bravery that conclude to how bravery is applied to habits we rational humans have. We come to think of five of them, which are political, experience, spirit, hope, and ignorance.
Even through trial, hardship, and pain, selfless individuals will exhibit their abiding
C. A universal idea about human experience through showing courage to me is basically just being brave and sticking it out through hard times. In addition to that, looking out for the people around you, especially people who may be considered weaker than you or people that don’t possess as much courage. A human experience with courage could be joining the army or any type of fighting force. Also, something less courageous but could mean a lot to someone is making friends with someone who may not have a bunch of friends, and not worrying about what people might say/think about you when you befriend that
Chapter 15 allowed some variety to our usual learning style and was by far, in my opinion, the most engaging reading of the term. We were assigned to reading a closet drama which was “designed to provide us with a better understanding of communications, human conflict, and the real world of working relationships” (Pozgar, 2016, p. 466). We were introduced to The Pillars of Strength, which consists of “virtues and values that make up each individual’s moral character” (Pozgar, 2016, p. 466). Throughout the case, we were presented with characters that displayed the virtues and values that coincided with the Pillars of Strength. The case also presented as a prime example of “how values are intertwined in the communication process and how they
The quote, “Nothing matters so much in life as to live it decently," is part of a very compassionate memoir called Romulus, My Father by Raimond Gaita, which he wrote for his father after his death. The memoir has many important themes embedded throughout, but the sense of self-identity is important as it relates to the quote being discussed. Friendship is shown to be important in achieving a sense of self-identity, as Romulus and Hora have such a strong bond and throughout the memoir, they have assisted each other to find themselves when lost. The friendship and shared conversation enjoyed by his father became a key factor in Gaita’s formative years. Friendship is esteemed, a reflection of self and social identity, a benchmark against which
It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.” This quotation means that friendship is can be good, and bad. Understanding one another through good, and bad, but allowing the other to get hurt causes greater problems.
For example, when I was younger, about elementary school age, I had many friends and considered myself to be a more “popular” kid in my school. This was until I reached middle school, and as the kids were experimenting with their styles, attitudes, and career paths, I realized that I wasn't the popular kid, I was just a girl who knew everyone in the school. Personally, that realization hurt and took a toll on my mental health, especially when COVID hit, but thanks to my best friend, Hannah whom I have known since kindergarten, who was always there for me and helped me throughout the fun COVID schooling experience, I understand that she has sacrificed so much for me and I the same for her, without her, I would not be the person I am today and I am extremely grateful for everything she has done for me. A good example of brotherhood from the source Of Mice And Men is the fact that George had so many opportunities to up and leave Lennie on his own and go off to live his dream, yet he decided to stay with him and take care of him, knowing that Lennie wouldn’t be able to survive on his

(Stein 314). While living your own life in a world full of other humans, it is important to realize that life does not revolve around you and to appreciate the fact that there are people who are there to support you and guide you, acting as a racing team. A human needs to have friends and family to depend on, and to be there for others when they need someone to depend on. Therefore, a good human can’t just focus on their own success or personal achievements. A champion racer gives credit to others when they reach their goal.
One of the strongest examples of the previous statement in found in the friendship of Liesel Meminger and Max Vandenburg in Markus Zusak’s writing, The Book Thief. Through her friendship with Max, Liesel’s rebellious behavior changes and she becomes more loyal, resulting
This is evident in multiple scenes throughout the novel, and helps develop the deeply-rooted respect in between them, showing that even those with contrasting ideas and characteristics are capable of making the same, positive effects on others. Works Cited Basic
This quote really embodies my message, and the manner in which, I believe, my community should carry themselves. The impression of the matter is people in my community often do kind things just for recognition. If I had the authority, I would ensure that they are carried out for long periods of time rather than once or twice. If I had the authority to change this about my community I
