Averyelle Stefan is new to the town of Greensburg and doesn’t know anyone yet. She starts school tomorrow at Plum Elementary. She is extremely scared to go to her new school. Mom and dad start to get Averyelle ready for bed and school the next morning. All tucked in and lights out, Averyelle starts to dream about being a new student before and no one will play with her or be her friend. The dream turned into a nightmare when the teacher started to embarrassing her in front of the whole class which makes her cry. Morning is here and Averyelle is dressed, but not ready for school. She walks to the kitchen and her mom is cooking breakfast. “Good morning, how did you sleep?” mom asks. “Well about that mom can I stay home today please!” Averyelle expresses. “Honey, school is not that bad and you will make many friends because you are smart, funny, and friendly,” mom tells Averyelle as they are finishing eating. “Please don’t send to school,” Averyelle is begging. Once the teacher noticed her standing outside of the classroom in fear she walked out to get Averyelle and assure dad that she is in a safe place. She is in a classroom with seventeen other students. Once dad left Ms. Marks showed Averyelle to her assigned seat. She sits next to students with the name Maya. “I hope she isn’t mean to me,” Averyelle thinks with fear running throughout her body.
