There were more than 119 serial killers in the 70’s (The Decline of The Killer), some more infamous than others, one of these infamous killers is John Wayne Gacy, he was known for sodomizing young males between the ages of fourteen and twenty-one then killing them(Crime Museum). As a child Gacy experienced sexual assault and physical violence, he was bullied and had a heart condition which kept him from playing sports (The Famous People). Gacy asked Rob if he would be interested in working at his company. The 15 year old had his heart and mind set on buying his own car. Rob hopped into Gacy’s truck without a second thought and was never seen alive after that day. Unlike most of Gacy’s victims Rob was not a runaway or prostitute, he came from a close-knit family which immediately reported Rob missing. Their relentless hounding of the local police department was one reason why Gacy came under scrutiny. Search warrants were eventually served to Gacy and during the second search, remains of bodies were found under his home. What they did not know was that Rob was not under the home, Gacy wrapped Rob into a carpet and threw him into the Des Plaines river, Rob’s body washed ashore in the spring of 1979. Gacy went into very descriptive detail about the rape and murder of Rob, Gacy claimed Rob was refusing so he had put a rope around his neck and strangled him. Gacy was arrested and used an insanity plea in hopes of a not guilty verdict. The ruse did not work, he was found guilty on May 10, 1994.
