Love. Lies. Death. Fear. These are some of the things in William Shakespeare’s story of Romeo and Juliet. Two teens from feuding families meet at a party and instantly fall in love. They get married but Romeo ends up getting banished and Juliet’s cousin is killed. Juliet is told to marry a Count but instead the friar who married her helps her fake her death. The plan goes south Romeo kills himself because he believes that his wife is dead soon after Juliet kills herself and both families build statues of the others child. Ultimately, friar Lawrence is the most responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths because he married them, he made Juliet’s parents think that she would be marrying Paris, and he gave the Juliet the potion to make her seem dead. …show more content…

He was trying to end their family feud not realizing that they might get caught in the cross fire. The friar comments, “So smile the heavens upon this holy act/ that after-hours with sorrow chide us not,” (II.vi.1-2) he hopes that nothing brings them down but because of their families this wish was just thrown away. The friar was so focused on ending their family’s feud that he did not even care that these two teenagers were only attracted to each other’s looks. His actions to end their family’s quarrel worked but during the process he got both of them killed because of the decisions he made. He knew that they were not really in love, the feud between their families should not have been his reason to marry
